The “First thousand years of Greek:” utilities
-
Definition:
The First thousand years of Greek project is creating
a freely-licensed corpus of TEI-compliant texts and lemmatized word
indexes coordinated with morphological information and with the
on-line Liddell-Scott-Jones lexicon from the Perseus project,
including at least one version of every Greek text transmitted by
manuscript copying down through roughly the third century A.D.
This site is documenting tools and utilities used in the
creation of those data sets.

Dedication:
The idea for this project originated
in conversations with
Ross Scaife, Chris Blackwell, and
Tom Martin. I would like to offer my work on this project
as a small tribute to the
wide-ranging but largely unappreciated
contributions they have made
to the study of ancient Greek.
